Development of railway freight. The framework agreement between the Italian Railway Network (RFI) and Lotras.

The framework agreement RFI-Lotras which also includes the upgrading of rail freight terminal of the Villa Selva (FC) it was showned in Forlimpopoli in the suggestive setting of the Church of the Servants of Casa Artusi. Several institutional representatives and local authorities have co-organized the initiative, with also professionals, entrepreneurs and media workers.

This is the first agreement between RFI and a logistics provider specifically dedicated to freight traffic along the Adriatic, which expect: commercial planning of freight traffic during a period of five years; capacity of the traffic programmed, with slot times dedicated to connected locations and established days, that is functional to needs of the operator logistics; upgrading of the infrastructures of the terminal to increase its production capacity.

A strategic investment for the economic and productive development of the Romagna’s industrial area, able to increase also the rail freight traffic of the 40%, already documented on over 2.300 trains / year, and to ensure a more effective and efficient use of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana’s infrastructures.

The interventions made, in phases, will include four new rails - two for loading / unloading, two for temporary stop of trains - to increase the capacity of the railway terminal; in fact, in Villa Selva they will be operating six rails totally by 2018, each with a length of 750 m, three of which for the loading / unloading and as many for the temporary stopping of trains.

During the illustration of the Framework Agreement, the Sole Administrator of Lotras, Armando de Girolamo, has underlined with great appreciation the synergy between the various production companies and the territory and the productive commitment of local authorities in assisting the initiative.
