Armando de Girolamo, new ASSOFERR President

The Sole Administrator of Lotras, Mr Armando de Girolamo, is the new President of ASSOFERR, the Association of railway and intermodal operators constituted by National and foreign companies, which develop an annual turnover of 3.5 billion euros and a direct induction of over 5,000 employees.

The new Board of Directors unanimously elected him this morning, following the General Assembly of the associates.

In a moment of particular economic and social vulnerability - due to the consequences of the two-year pandemic emergency and the difficulties caused by the ongoing war in Eastern Europe - railway and intermodal operators confirm their commitment to support the Italian system in the challenges of competitiveness and sustainable ecological transition.

"ASSOFERR" - declared the President Armando de Girolamo - "the discussion will continue with renewed vigor in the various institutional offices to validate the central and strategic role of the transport of goods by rail, capable of declining and summarizing the values   of environmental protection , safety and economic efficiency, also in light of the new opportunities required by digitization for the purposes of real competitiveness and sustainability of the railway mode ".

"These elements, however - continued de Girolamo - cannot ignore the implementation of government guidelines and sector economic policies to be implemented through precise choices and at the same time ordered according to priorities and coordinates, in the direction of administrative simplification and the containment of energy costs, also in light of the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Furthermore, an industrial policy capable of expanding the production capacity and productivity of the country is absolutely a priority and essential, dimensions capable of marking the real turning point compared to the past if integrated with tools to support winning attractiveness and economic usability. for the railway mode ".

In the two-year period 2022-2024 the President Armando de Girolamo, formerly at the helm of ASSOFERR from 2008 to 2010, will be joined by the Vice Presidents Angelo Chigioni (Lucchini Rs), Guido Gazzola (VTG Rail Europe), Andreas Nolte (Transwaggon) and by the Directors Vittorio Gatti (Chemoil), Alberto Grisone (Hupac), Walter Leopardi (Sitfa), Barbara Recli (Ermewa) Roberto Torluccio (Interporto Bologna) Pieralberto Vecchi (Ambrogio Intermodal).
